How did you get interested in real estate?

I got interested in real estate when I was a kid. My parents would always talk about how they wished they could buy a house, but it was just too expensive. And then one day we were looking at the classifieds and my dad pointed out that there was an ad for a house for sale that was really cheap—like way cheaper than what we thought it should be.
My mom had a look on her face like she knew something special was going on. She told me to wait until later because she had something special planned for me. When we went back later, the house had been sold. I don't know if it was just luck or if my mom had something to do with it, but I think she might have been right: maybe we deserved better than what life had given us so far.
